As always, an incredibly interesting piece. But I don’t think you went quite far enough with your last paras about aggregates. Because the other thing that the charts comparing annual coal consumption with cumulative production of key commodities omit is the extraordinary amount of ore that needs to be dug out and refined in order to produce one tonne of a given metal - and then crushed, treated chemically, heated, etc. It’s mind-boggling!
